Kaw Lake Jellyfish Sprite

Kansas has some of the most powerful storms in the world and is therefore one of the best hunting grounds for red sprites.

This beautiful jellyfish sprite fired just under the big dipper one amazing night in June. I stayed with these storms, in awe of the strobing and bubbling updrafts for hours, and was rewarded with this beautiful scene. Kaw Lake, Oklahoma has never looked so magical.
